ACE Group Fitness Training Course
The ACE Group Fitness Instructor Prep Course is designed to prepare individuals for the ACE Group Fitness Instructor Certification and to design and instruct a variety of safe, fun, and effective Group Fitness classes at Illinois State University Campus Recreation. This course is designed to prepare individuals to work with apparently healthy individuals and those with health challenges who are able to exercise independently to improve health-related physical fitness, manage health risks, and promote lasting health behavior change.
Completion of this course qualifies individuals to enter the application process to become a Group Fitness Instructor within Campus Recreation. The ACE GFI Prep Course is an in-house training program that does not nationally certify individuals, but rather prepares them for the ACE GFI exam as stated above. We strongly encourage all candidates to pursue the ACE GFI certification in addition to our in-house prep course.
ACE Personal Training Course
The ACE Personal Training Course is designed to provide theoretical knowledge and practical skills in preparation for the ACE national certification exam in personal training. Topics include guidelines for instructing safe, effective and purposeful exercise, essentials of the client-trainer relationship, conducting health and fitness assessments, and designing and implementing appropriate exercise programming. This course will consist of both an online component and an applied skills workshop. The applied skills workshop is designed to provide applicants with an experiential learning opportunity. The ACE Prep course does NOT certify individuals as personal trainers.
Completion of this course qualifies individuals to enter the application process to become a Personal Trainer within Campus Recreation. We strongly encourage all candidates to pursue the ACT PT certifications in addition to our in-house prep course.
