General Rules and Regulations
Personal Transportation
Bicycles, rollerblades, roller skates, and skateboards are prohibited within all facilities but may be stored outside of the facility.
Food
No gum, candy, or other items are permitted for consumption during activities, and can only be used during break times and in specified areas of the RAC. When planning the details of your program, please notify the Adventure Program if you are making arrangements for food for your organization. Water will be available to refill water bottles.
Behavior
Participants are expected to be respectful of each other and Adventure team members. Participants must keep off all elements until they are instructed to do so by Adventure team members. Participants are expected to follow stated safety procedures for each element.
Adventure Program participants are expected to adhere to all ISU Code of Conduct Policies as well as the ISU policy regarding Harassment and Discrimination, which can be found in its entirety on the Illinois State University website. In short: Any act of harassment and/or discrimination based on race, color, ancestry, national origin, religion, pregnancy, sexual orientation, order of protection, gender identity and expression, age, marital status, disability, genetic information, unfavorable military discharge, status as a veteran, or sex (including sexual harassment, sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking) is a violation of this policy and the law and will not be tolerated.
Public Display of Affection (PDA)
Engaging in inappropriate public display of affection in the RAC is strictly prohibited.
Smoking and Tobacco
Illinois State University is a Smoke and Tobacco Free Campus in accordance with the Smoke-Free Campus Act (110 ILCS 64 et seq.), the Smoke-Free Illinois Act (410 ILCS 82 et seq.), and the School Code Tobacco Prohibition (105 ILCS 510-20.5b). Smoking and tobacco use is prohibited on campus, including buildings, grounds, and parking lots.
Alcohol and Drugs
The sale, delivery, possession, and consumption of alcoholic beverages in or on any property owned or controlled by Illinois State University is prohibited. Additionally, the unlawful manufacture, distribution, dispensing, possession, or use of a controlled substance is strictly prohibited upon any property owned, operated, or controlled by Illinois State University. Violators will be subject to University disciplinary action consistent with existing University policies, rules, regulations, and employment agreements. Individuals taking medications should note them on their health screening form.
Mobile Technology
For the safety and comfort of our patrons, the use of mobile technology is not permitted in the restrooms. Patrons may use mobile technology in other areas of the facility for access to music or phone; however, if disruptive behavior (talking loudly) is noticed or reported, the patron will be asked to refrain from use of the device.
Use of Media
Personal photography and videotaping are permitted during team building activities. Personal photography and videotaping is defined as media of friends/family obtained informally for personal/private use. Personal photography used for commercial purposes is not allowed. Photography and videotaping for Academic or Media purposes is allowed in most Campus Recreation facilities with prior authorization. Illinois State University Campus Recreation reserves the right to deny access to anyone as it deems necessary.
Accessibility Information
The Redbird Adventure Center is designed to accommodate patrons of varying abilities. Adventure team members are available at any time to provide special assistance to patrons with disabilities. Service animals are allowed in all facilities.
Pets
Except for service animals, pets are prohibited in all facilities.
Lost and Found
The Lost and Found is located at the main desk in the RAC Lobby. Lost IDs and membership cards will be placed at that desk for retrieval. Wallets, cell phones, MP3 players, and other items deemed to be of high value will be placed in a locked cabinet for security purposes. Campus Recreation is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged property.
Inclement Weather
The Redbird Adventure Center will generally be open during regular hours, though all or portions of facilities may be closed. KNR classes held in the RAC will only be canceled if Illinois State University is closed due to inclement weather. The Campus Recreation website will post any weather-related schedule changes.
